Member Rights Explainer

Welcome to Future’s Edge. Here is what you have a right to expect when AI is involved.

Future’s Edge uses AI to help personalise learning, recognise contributions, and support community governance. That is powerful — but only if you can trust it. These rights are yours, always. They are not conditional on your membership level, your technical knowledge, or where you live.

You have the right to be told when AI is involved in any decision that affects you.

If an AI system influenced your reputation score, a learning recommendation, an opportunity allocation, or a governance outcome — you will always be told. We do not use AI in secret.

You have the right to a plain-language explanation of how any AI decision was made.

Not technical jargon. Not “the algorithm decided.” A clear, human explanation of what the AI considered, how it weighed factors, and why it reached the conclusion it did.

Ask the question: “How was this decided?” — and you will get an answer.

You have the right to formally contest any AI-generated assessment, score, or decision.

If you believe an AI system got something wrong — your reputation score, a learning assessment, a bounty calculation — you can challenge it. Every challenge is logged, investigated, and resolved. No concern is dismissed without a published response.

How: Use the “Raise a concern” option on the platform. You can do this anonymously if you prefer.

You have the right to have errors in your data or AI-generated profile corrected promptly.

If the data an AI system holds about you is wrong — or if an AI-generated summary misrepresents you — you can request a correction. We will respond within 14 days.

You have the right to decline participation in AI systems where a human alternative exists.

Not every process can work without AI — but where a human pathway exists, you can choose it. Your choice will not disadvantage you.

You have the right to contribute feedback that genuinely feeds into system improvement.

Every AI tool has a feedback mechanism. Your input is reviewed regularly by the tool owner and the Ethics Circle. Patterns in feedback lead to changes in how systems work — this is not a black hole.

You have the right to request removal or anonymisation of your personal data.

Within the constraints of audit integrity (some on-chain records must remain for transparency), you can request that your personal data be deleted or anonymised. We will process your request within 30 days.

What stays: Anonymised contribution records (for fairness to others).
What goes: Your identifiable personal data, profile, and activity logs.

If you believe any of these rights have not been respected, you can raise a concern through the platform at any time. The Ethics Circle — a community-elected body — will investigate and publish a response. You can do this anonymously.

Every concern is logged permanently. We do not close concerns quietly.

You do. This policy is owned by the community — not by leadership. It can only be changed by a community vote. The Ethics Circle is elected by members and reports publicly on how well the organisation is living up to these commitments.

The full policy, the AI Use Case Register, and the Ethics Circle’s annual report are all public. You can see exactly what AI tools we use, who is accountable for them, and how they have been audited.

Your trust is not assumed. It is earned — and these rights are how we earn it.
